Pathobiology Camp, Snowmass, CO. July 16-23
I applied the AACR (American Association for Cancer Research) Pathobiology Workshop thinking that it would be a great oppertunity to meet fellow students and researchers in cancer area. As a MD, I didn't expect to learn a lot new in Pathology in the camp. Well, I was wrong, almost all the instructors are MDs with research labs. Although the main aim of the camp is to teach ph.Ds cancer pathology, I found myself learned a lot from these MD researches--not only histology and pathology, but also the way they see and conduct research. We had several 1hr lectures focusing on various hot area in cancer research. Most of them were about basic knowledge on one aspect, they are very helpful in clarifying definations as well as updating important new findings.
Well, should shut up about "serious stuff". The beer there is called "flat tire", quite strong. The best hiking scene there is Maroon bells, purely beautiful. People I met there are friends...

纽约，纽约
yimei来美国，义不容辞要作陪的，纽约吧。只有一天半，去哪里走马观花呢？
这是第四次来纽约了，城市自然还是乱哄哄（除了中央公园），yimei说看看这里的人匆匆忙忙，还不如住到乡下去。我说住到乡下去就没有sisley卖，她说乡下就不用sisley了。生在长在城市里的我们，真的想要搬到乡下去？ 反正我不去。
跑题了，第一天放下行李出门就4点了，只好先去不关门的地方了--时代广场。好不热闹，老黑在大唱黑人gospel, bloody Jesus Christ。街上除了车还是车，还有白包车（白人骑的黄包车）。拍照留念后，我们决定试试百老汇，不打折的票是买不起的，运气好，到了第四家，standing ticket 只要20块，《芝加哥〉。虽然站了2个小时看戏，但还是很值很值的。据说纽约的大学里经常可以买到周中的discount，真是羡慕ing. 戏院出来已然天黑，yimei 喜欢这里的霓虹灯，其实都是超大lcd, 自然更好看了。
第二天一早，吃过小笼包（其实不管是蒸笼还是包子都不小）后，我们奔赴联合国。轮到我们是穿着民族服装的哥伦比亚的讲解员，唧唧刮刮带着我们转了一圈，最厉害的就是74年中国送的象牙雕塑了，大而精致，中国人送东西，小了送不出手的。大都会博物馆周一休息，中央公园小歇后我们bus到MoMA，第五大道只好蜻蜓点水了。
7点送yimei上车，可惜没看到自由mm，不过留些遗憾，自然下次再来。

Soccer, Party and Firework

Germany lost in semifinal against Italy, I was in Goethe Institute watching the game with more than 200 German fans. Up and down, all because of the game.
BBQ party: We were invited to a independence BBQ party in MIT. It took us sometime to find the right location, we almost went into another Japanese party. Meeting people is always nice and chatting nonsense sometimes could be relaxing.
The whole cambridge was flooded with people waiting for firework, it was the first time I saw so many people at one time ever since I left China. It reminded me our Oct 1st national day light show in Shanghai. Almost 30min firework show was extraordinarily fantastic, I am sure they are all made in China!

Acadia!!!
Acadia has been on my list for a long long time, since...last year. :)
5hr drive from Boston, we started at 6am (absolutely not my favourate time). We weren't so sure about what we should expect for the next 3 days in the National Park (it is the smallest one, I think). Martin was even joking about if had time on the way back, there was a 24hr outlet, we could midnight fashion shopping.

Day 1: Loop trip
20miles of one way drive loop, stop and enjoy whenever you want! I guess we started our relaxing time by a quite picnic lunch. Sandy beach, thumder hole, Jordan pond, Sunset at Cadillac Mountain. Yeah, we did the marked scene, we enjoyed more unmarked sites where we just simply looking at the sea. (On the other side of the ocean is Martin's home, hehe, hope he saw or sensed it).










Day2: Hiking
I love steep hiking, it is challenging and much more rewarded. On the summit, simply lye down, close eyes and listen to the sunshine with wind. You will feel it...












Day3: Tandem Bike
Thanks to John Rockefeller, Acadia has 45miles of carriage road where automobiles are prohibited. I insisted on tandem bike as I could sit on the back and enjoy while the big guy transported us, well, the price I paid by being lazy is the whole front scene. The lakes, the beaches, my feeling was that I was totally surrounded by nature, so far far away from any man-made civilization (I mean towers, cars, as trails, carriage roads are all man-made).



















Day3 night: Lobster!!
No need to describe!

As the introduction movie stated: Acadia is not about the biggest, the largest... It is about solitude. And lobster.
